Thomas 312 Posted December 6, 2013 (edited) Join the Tactical Folding Team! Instructions: Download and install the F@h client software (the install process is fairly simple and straight-forward, however if you run into trouble you can consult the install guide) Create a passkey Open up the Advanced Control window by right clicking the F@h icon in the taskbar → under 'Identity', enter your passkey and assign yourself to our team with the following team number: # 225705 Enter your computer specifications on your profile page (on this website) so we get an idea of our team's computing power Learn more about the project and familiarize yourself with the software by reading through the FAQ -- afterwards proceed with the slightly more advanced FAQ Fold! If you require help with any of these steps, just post below and we'll gladly assist you! Edited January 29, 2016 by Thomas Share this post Link to post

Thomas 312 Posted December 12, 2013 Congratulations to Tomek Nysa, who just completed his first WU http://fah-web.stanford.edu/cgi-bin/main.py?qtype=teampage&teamnum=225705 Share this post Link to post
Tomek Nysa 17 Posted December 12, 2013 Thanks But you are working much harder Share this post Link to post
Thomas 312 Posted December 12, 2013 Every bit helps, and brings us another step closer to the answer. Together, we form the largest and fastest supercomputer in the entire world, that's also something to be proud of. And remember, the work we (well, our computers) are doing now might just save our life later! Share this post Link to post
Tomek Nysa 17 Posted December 12, 2013 I didn't mean that my (my computer's) work completely doesn't matter I meant you are doing much more work than the others and deserve most to be congratulated Share this post Link to post
Peterie 93 Posted December 26, 2013 Is this still going? CPU: Intel® Core2 Duo CPU T9600 @ 2.80GHz GPU: NVIDIA Quadro FX 770M Share this post Link to post
Thomas 312 Posted December 26, 2013 Yep, we're still folding I just let the folding client running in the background 24/7 on my systems, so basically it never stops. You're welcome to join in, simply download and install the client. Create a passkey, add yourself to the team, and off you go! Share this post Link to post
kimoomik 66 Posted December 26, 2013 that is your pc is never turned off? and I do not really understand what it's about, my english is too bad Share this post Link to post
Thomas 312 Posted December 26, 2013 Correct, but that's not only for F@H, they do other stuff at night as well, like monitoring the servers, amongst other things. As for what this project is about, watch the video, it pretty much explains it (without going into too much detail). In order to understand it you have to be familiar with the biological process of translation and transcription of DNA with mRNA and ribosomes, which is how proteins are formed inside the human body (which is what this project is all about). If not, then this will indeed be hard to understand. But the beauty of this project is that you do not have to understand it to help find cures for diseases, like cancer. You just let your computer do all the work, which helps the scientists over at Stanford University to find cures.
