Join the Tactical Folding Team!

Instructions:

  1. Download and install the F@h client software (the install process is fairly simple and straight-forward, however if you run into trouble you can consult the install guide)
  2. Create a passkey
  3. Open up the Advanced Control window by right clicking the F@h icon in the taskbar → under 'Identity', enter your passkey and assign yourself to our team with the following team number: # 225705
  4. Enter your computer specifications on your profile page (on this website) so we get an idea of our team's computing power
  5. Learn more about the project and familiarize yourself with the software by reading through the FAQ -- afterwards proceed with the slightly more advanced FAQ
  6. Fold!

If you require help with any of these steps, just post below and we'll gladly assist you! :)

Every bit helps, and brings us another step closer to the answer. :)

Together, we form the largest and fastest supercomputer in the entire world, that's also something to be proud of.

And remember, the work we (well, our computers) are doing now might just save our life later! :)

I didn't mean that my (my computer's) work completely doesn't matter ;)
I meant you are doing much more work than the others and deserve most to be congratulated :)

Yep, we're still folding :)

I just let the folding client running in the background 24/7 on my systems, so basically it never stops. :P

You're welcome to join in, simply download and install the client. Create a passkey, add yourself to the team, and off you go! :)

Correct, but that's not only for F@H, they do other stuff at night as well, like monitoring the servers, amongst other things. :)

As for what this project is about, watch the video, it pretty much explains it (without going into too much detail). ;)

In order to understand it you have to be familiar with the biological process of translation and transcription of DNA with mRNA and ribosomes, which is how proteins are formed inside the human body (which is what this project is all about). If not, then this will indeed be hard to understand. But the beauty of this project is that you do not have to understand it to help find cures for diseases, like cancer. You just let your computer do all the work, which helps the scientists over at Stanford University to find cures. :)
