Yo and may the force be with you!

Ive got a problem with demo recording. When i try to start the demo i get error automatically and it kicks me out of game of course. Im not the only one whos got problems like this. Ive met 2 players at least who was facing the same situation. Am i missing any demo files? Even if i have normal CD version installed?

This is the error which im talking about:

Locate your tacticalOps ini and look for:

[Engine.Engine]

DemoRecordingDevice=Engine.DemoRecDriver

Have you instaled some programs like "UT Demo Manager" or some similar program?

I have exactly the same problem.

Like Yoda said a fresh TO install from the CD doesnt fix the issue. I also tried multiple Opengl Renderer and still same problem.

Even if i record a demo of a bot match on Rapidwater with only official game files, i still get a crash trying to playback that demo.

Thats the strange thing kimoomik, there are no leftover files.

Even when tried on Official CD release install clean, + patch 3.4 error is still there. I tried different versions of the Opengl renderer and sadly the error is still there.

So even when recording a bot match (without custom files) on a clean naked TO 3.4 install, and attempt to play that demo file will result in crash op tacticalops.exe for me. It will attempt to load the map and then a weird crash comes up about some internal engine files crashing i dunno sure.

Ive found this in my ini:

DemoRecordingDevice=udemo.uDemoDriver

So i have to replace this line with:

DemoRecordingDevice=Engine.DemoRecDriver

Right?

I have not installed any UT Demo Manager or any other programs.

I dont think that is the problem, as i have that line correct in my .ini, yet have same problem as you. (Should try if it makes a difference to be sure anyway)

Can't you open all demo's you have recorded? Or is it just one demo that doesn't work?

If u download demomanager you can see wich files are missing. So then you know if u you are missing a file.

Otherwise you could try to delete ur tacticalops.ini and try it again.

All that deleting TacticalOps.ini does is make the game copy Defaul.ini and rename it too TacticalOps.ini

So you would basicly get the TO v3.4.0 patch .ini file same as a clean install with patch installed

As both of us have tried a clean TO install it does nothing sadly.

So strange, perhaps its like a software or driver conflict..

I have done what Zee was suggesting and it seems to work fine for me. I can record and play demos now. Thank you for your help :)

Anyway its still weird why joey (and some other people for sure) cant fix it for himself even when he use basic settings and have correct line in his ini ;/
