Maps at "FFD Public" server

Imo this proves since the lack of Scrolling in the TOST Map Vote makes it hard to get a good overview, and vote properly.

There seems to be one ''main'' choice to be made if servers want to use MapVoteUL
- 4 Columns Vote Screen that works on resolutions 640x480 and up
- 8 Columns Vote Screen that works on resolutions 1024x768 and up

I still plan to test some other MapVote Mutators: MapVoteLA, MapVoteX and CacusMapVote
(Even found a vote script that is a NexGen plugin)

But yea you could order map on the Style of map (Official, Mappacks, Fun&Fall, DE+MSG etc)
Or you could order them alphabetical. I guess it depends on the amount and type of maps the server uses.

I think we only need 4 columns, if you want to keep it nice and clear.

But only(!) 128 (actually 126)! It's a lot.
Let's say we would use the plugin right now with 126 maps, people would still not know what maps to choose. We have to give them a list of maps which are good. They don't know where to look with this many maps.

Just an idea, what about a system in which we have some sort of map rotating system with a constant number of about 50 maps.
We can use one of these tabs as "rotation pool" and give them higher priority. Then the 5 least played maps of last month will be added to that pool along with 5 new maps. Then, at the end of the month the 5 most played map of that pool are added to the map list and the cycle continues.

I like the idea of the new map vote.

4 Columns please, not everybody plays in high resolution xD

We could sort maps by players or size :

1 )   18  players map  - Huge maps

2 )   10 + players map - medium / big maps

3 )    2+ players map - small / medium maps

4 )    Fun maps

1024x768 is not really a high resolution, that used to be my resolution on my old 17" CRT like 10 years ago :lol:

I'd suggest to go with the 8 column layout, this gives us more convenient categorization opportunities. I cannot really imagine anyone not being able to play at a minimum of 1024x768 these days.

Nope, apparently there are still some players who use 800x600... They say it's better.

Could also put all the maps voted to be removed (like stack) to be in a low piority voting list.

But yeah, lots or possibilities. I also noticed when using the 8 column 1024x768 it works on 800x600 only you lose a bit or view on the outer columns.

Ill also do some tests on the other available mapvotes to see how they look and work, so far i beleave they are all modded versions of a so called dbdmapvote

on 800x600 hitbox looks bigger, but isnt, looks only for u so, cause ur imagearea is smaller, so u have lower chances to see enemy un ur angel, its all habituation thing, myself plays with 1280x1024

I am one of these who plays with 640 x 480 :P

 

Guys, which maps are we keeping then?

Chosen maps with +50 % keep votes seem not enough to me ( moreover, if we're gonna categorize them with a new mapvote, I don't get why would eliminate metal storm or harbor for example - these are nice maps ).

What about keeping maps with +35 % for example ? ( 35 is just an example, 40 would be perfect imo ).

Last thing, looks like we have mostly big maps, is it only my opinion?

50%, 35%, does it really matter? If you want to have some arbitrary number in stead of the majority then I think you should the top 50? maps. But since this could mean an endless discussion I just said 50% because this would mean that there would be a majority for each map remaining. For the number of maps it doesn't really matter.

You could be right about the majority being big maps. But still, we have rapid, deagle, ambush, cold, TOON_TOWN and omega.

Haha is MetalStorm the only original map that is below 50%? List looks good for me tbh. Although TrooperRemix is a pain in the ass.

Or turn it into a death trap. Walls squashing anyone attempting to get in, spikes coming from the ground, trap doors, laser cutters, high current electric wires, neurotoxin gas, bear claw traps everywhere, high power circular saws, mounted shotguns with trapwire, rusty nails, mines, superglue, nuclear waste, incinerator room for instant cremation, etc. :)
